Nicholas Fowler-Ekar

A summer internship led to a part-time designing role for a budding footwear designer from the University of Northampton.

Nicholas spent four months working at Axel Arigato’s headquarters in Gothenburg, in between the second and third years of his Footwear and Accessories degree.

The summer internship went so well that after returning to Northampton for the start of the new academic year, Nicholas was offered and accepted a part-time junior designer role with the Swedish fashion brand. He was then able to combine his studies with two days at the company’s London offices.

“The whole experience was amazing,” said Nicholas. “During my time in Sweden I learnt and experienced so much. Just being able to live in a different country and meet new people was an experience on its own – the friends I made will last a lifetime and I can’t wait to move there, full-time, if the opportunity arises."
