Bethan Harrison

Bethan made the decision to study our BA Education Studies degree through clearing. Modern, close to home, and with numerous support services and smaller, more personal teaching sessions, our style of teaching was more in tune with the way she wanted to learn.

At Northampton, she overcame her struggles with mental health, by turning to the on-campus counsellors, Changemakers and friendly, understanding lecturers to support her with her development and confidence. Her situation inspired her to write two ‘Student Stories’ blogs sharing her positive experience for the benefit of fellow students, a reflection of her passion and drive to help others.

Bethan also immersed herself in various extra-curricular activities alongside her degree, including a study trip to Atlanta, a role as Course Advocate, a peer mentor and a lacrosse referee. Looking to the future, she’s set her sights on a Master’s in either Youth Offending or Special Needs, after completing her undergraduate degree.

"This course brought back my confidence, passion and motivation to do well - teaching me to be brave and courageous and that it's ok to raise my hand and speak out. I feel comfortable in my surroundings, Waterside Campus is my safe place."
