Games Art BA (Hons)

This programme will provide you with a broad understanding of the creative aspects of the gaming industry. Its aim is to equip you with experiences of the key areas within the creative process, from storyboarding to character and environment design.

You will be primarily concerned with the visual side of the industry, but will have exposure to the whole lifecycle of game production, including the initial ideas process to the final release stages. You will work alongside games programmers from the BSc Computer Games Development course, and experience games development for specific markets in both two and three dimensional formats.

This programme provides you with the opportunity to develop the creative skills, technical software skills and the industry knowledge, required by the leading games developers.

You will develop a personal portfolio of knowledge and skills that reflect industry and professional practice needs, informed by historical and contemporary references, cultural and social contexts. Throughout the programme, you will be supported to engage in live projects and competitions.

The University is recognised as “Unreal Academia” an official training site for Unreal Engine.

The University and Games Art programme are also involved with BUGS (Business and University Games Syndicate).
