Computing (Virtual Reality and Industrial Simulation) BSc (Hons)

Computers are at the heart of daily lives and businesses and the industry is continually growing and developing to meet the expanding needs of the consumer.
The role of visualisation within computing has gained importance as customers have begun to expect more from their devices. This specialist pathway provides you with a very good understanding of 2D and 3D graphics theory and design techniques, graphics programming, development of artificial intelligence systems and mobile computing technology, as well as the relevance of multimedia technologies to modern industry and commerce. This course reinforces your theoretical underpinning using real world practical examples and our state-of-the-art computer facilities. All Computing students study common modules during stage one – this allows greater flexibility when choosing a specialism for stages two and three.

Includes open access computer suites and teaching rooms. You may also benefit from having your own laptop if you choose to do so.

Career opportunities
Recent graduates have entered into a number of different computing areas, most commonly software development, including graphics and visualisation.

  • Standard entry requirements apply. A typical offer is BTEC qualifications of DMM,  A level grades of BCC or 112 UCAS points.
  • GCSE Mathematics or equivalent at grade C or above.
  • Previous experience of computing is desirable.
  • We welcome international applicants and applications from students with a range of non-traditional educational or professional qualifications.
  • Those who do not have English as their first language will need to demonstrate that they meet the minimum English language requirement of IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent).
