Business Computing (Systems) BSc (Hons)

The pace of technological advancement affects every facet of business; the introduction of new software and hardware has meant the IT skills gap continues to widen. Whether you are interested in systems analysis, programming, databases or management, this course provides an excellent foundation for your career. You will also have the option to add a placement year between years two and three which will allow you to develop in an industry environment, creating contacts that will be useful at the end of your degree programme.

The Systems pathway on Business Computing draws on a range of skills, from technical development to commercial and managerial. You will explore design, technological developments and management. The course has a practical focus and you will be given the opportunity to learn a range of development tools such as SQL, PHP and Java.

Career opportunities:
Graduate careers can include Systems Analyst, Programmer, Database Developer, Database Manager and Test Engineer amongst others.

Three years full-time, four years with industry placement or four years extended degree including work-based learning for BSc. A part-time programme can be tailored to address individual student requirements.
  • Standard entry requirements apply. A typical offer is BTEC qualifications of DMM,  A level grades of BCC or 112 UCAS points.
