Become a Changemaker

In 2013 we were the first university in the UK to be given the title of “Changemaker Campus” by Ashoka U – a community of leaders and institutions who work to find solutions to society’s problems through Higher Education and beyond.

We are part of an exclusive network of only 37 colleges and universities from around the world that are recognised as Changemaker Campuses. Which means we are among the global leaders in social innovation with the vision of what education can be. Do you have an idea that could make a difference? We want to help you to be a leader of the future, and so we offer a Changemaker programme that will allow you to develop that idea and address a problem in the world through a new social venture; whether that is a business in its own right or a different way of working that changes the way people view that problem. As a graduate of the programme, you will be internationally recognised by Ashoka U as a Changemaker who has what it takes to make an impact on society.

The Changemaker Hub provides students with volunteering opportunities, work placements, internships and part-time jobs and was named Overall Winner for Developing Employability 2017 by Abintegro, the career development platform. “We are delighted to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of the team at Northampton with this award,” said Tony Heard, Abintegro's Managing Director.

Mark Blaber, Employability & Enterprise Manager at the Changemaker Hub, said: “This is a fantastic recognition of all the hard work we are doing here at the University of Northampton and Changemaker Hub in equipping our students with the skills, experience and knowledge they need to become highly employable graduates and to be the best they can be.”
